| This is the archive gallery of paintings by artist Carol D. Buddell which have been called naive, folk, magic realism, contemporary and traditional. Most of these paintings were done before any formal training which lend to their naive style. The style is also painterly in its brush strokes, expressionist in their colour and naive in their rendition of space and faces. They have a dream-like or magical quality set in reality that makes them similar to the magic realism art movement from the 1920's. The Blue Cactus by Carol Buddell was part of the exhibition L'Horizon in Monaco June 2007. The Thierry painting is painted in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. The Spirit painting was inspired by some black and white photos taken by the artist of the models in the Lolita Lempicka catwalk in the Carousel du Louvre in 1998. |
